We professionally renovate all items in the collection in our workshop in Tring, Hertfordshire. We pride ourselves on good restoration - taking items in and lovingly bringing them back to life. Both of us restore items and believe in not over restoring things, getting the balance right between renovating a piece structurally and maintaining its beauty. To us small knocks and dents only adds to a piece's past and we like to leave as much of the patina as we can in order to maintain its history.
"/pəˈtiːnə/ a finish which can only be produced with age and wear over time"
Sharon studied furniture restoration at the London College of Furniture in the late 1980s and went on to restore Indian and French antiques for The Conran Shop in the early 1990s. She started restoration at an early age and worked Saturdays whilst studying at school at John Bly Antiques which was based in Tring. She has continued to restore items over the years for her home and always dreamt of having her own workshop restoring furniture.
We also like to share our knowledge on renovation and offer tips and trick on how to do these techniques (such as cleaning furniture and french polishing) on our blog and over on our home Instagram @slow.space.living
